Nuyorican Transcendence

The Nuyorican Transcendence is an event that embraces the soul of the Afro-Taino by paying homage to roots of the Puerto Rican culture and heritage while launching them into the future. This is event was much needed in the Bronx because most Puerto Rican day parade events occur outside of the borough. There will be food provided by Mamacitas combining a medley of flavors from classic Nuyorican cuisine with a new modern twists for your palate to enjoy.

This is event will feature performance by The B.O.O.M. peforming originals as well as covers from Nuyorican innovators in Salsa, Latin Jazz, Hip Hop and more. There will also be special performance by Raquel Joan, Atiyya and Rio Azul as well as a unannounced special guest. We will also be showing the film Pa' Lante which speaks about the plight of the people of Puerto Rico after Hurricane Maria. The night also features music by Nuyorican selectors Uptown Vinyl Supreme as well as vendors and painters representing Nuyorican culture.
